The books can be found in room 214 at the LPP in the Maison de la Recherche de la Sorbonne Nouvelle (4 rue des Irlandais, 75005 Paris).
You can consult the list of volumes in the library’s collection at the web page https://pmb.laboratoirephonetiquephonologie.fr/opac_css/.
Priority access to the LPP library is reserved for students in the master’s and doctoral programs in Phonetics & Phonology, and for regular members of the LPP.
Books can be borrowed for a maximum of four consecutive weeks.
The book’s call number (first three letters of the author’s last name followed by the year of publication) can be found on the spine of the book, and its six-digit bar code on the back of the book.
Borrowing a book
In order to borrow a book once you have consulted the web page to determine that it is available, please send an email to roland.trouville@sorbonne-nouvelle.fr, stating the title, call number and bar code, and the date you expect to return the book.
Example. If you want to borrow Ferdinand Saussure’s Cours de linguistique générale, send an email with the following information:
- Title: Cours de linguistique générale
- Call number: SAU-76
- Bar code: 100633
Renewing a loan
If you need to renew a book, email roland.trouville@sorbonne-nouvelle.fr, stating the new date when you expect to return the book, as well as its title, call number and bar code. Please note that renewals are permitted only if no one else has requested the book.
Returning a book
To return a book you can either place it back in its place on the shelf or give it to Roland Trouville. In either case, please send an email to roland.trouville@sorbonne-nouvelle.fr, stating that you returned it and including the same information as when you borrowed it.
Adding a new book to the library’s collection
If you want to add a new printed book to the library’s collection, speak to Roland or if he is not in the office, leave it on his desk and send him (roland.trouville@sorbonne-nouvelle.fr) an email. (He can’t be expected to guess that a book on his desk is intended for the library!) He will add it to the library database, label it and add it to the shelves.
It is also possible to add a digital document to the other library database. Please contact Roland for this also.
Digital documents
There is a second library database for PDF documents that you can view here: https://biblio.laboratoirephonetiquephonologie.fr/.
Keeping the library database up to date
As of September 12, 2023, the LPP library database is up-to-date. It is essential that all library users follow the procedures given above in order to maintain the accuracy of the database. Please do not borrow or return books without notifying anyone. Cooperation from all users is needed in order to keep the library easy to use for the future.
For any questions, please email roland.trouville@sorbonne-nouvelle.fr.
